Amnesty: A Path to North American Union

June 15, 2007

One has to wonder about the motivation behind those who insist on pushing this amnesty bill through Congress. Far be it from me to wade into the ugly underworld of conspiracy theories but there certainly is an effort afoot to join us with Canada and Mexico. The question is, who in Congress are using that as their motivation to push this amnesty bill?

You must admit that, on the surface, it looks a bit odd. Despite recent polling data from Rasmussen that only 20 percent of Americans want to continue with this current bill. Despite the same poll showing 69 percent of Americans would rather pursue a path that emphasizes enforcement of immigration laws and closing the border to illegals. Despite all the angry phone calls and e-mails and people showing up by the hundreds at these congressional town hall meetings, some still insist on pressing forward with amnesty.

Here's one grim prediction from a group convinced there are more sinister forces astir. Daneen Peterson is a former university professor and researcher who studies the North American Union issue. She spoke at a small rally recently in Washington. She told CNSNews, “The illegal alien problem is a mechanism for leveraging what is yet to come. Once the civil unrest and chaos caused by the overwhelming human tsunami of illegal aliens and MS-13 gang members reduces America to complete anarchy ... the federal government will institute martial law,” Peterson said. She predicted that martial law would then “allow the shadow government to step forward and visibly take over this country. They will use martial law to install a fascist One World Order, dictatorial government in plain sight instead of operating clandestinely as they do now.”

As far-fetched as Peterson's predictions sound, there are, without a doubt, those who truly believe a one-world government is not only inevitable but it's preferable to our current set of circumstances. Strobe Talbot, Bill Clinton's deputy Secretary of State openly advocated a “World Federation,” or one-world government. He said, “the U.S. is still the best example of a multinational federal state. If that model does indeed work globally, it would be the logical extension of the Founding Fathers' wisdom, therefore a special source of pride for a world government's American constituents.”

This is the former deputy secretary of state in a widely published article on the subject. This is hardly a hidden agenda of a few isolated nutcases. However, these same people understand our reluctance to be dragged into, first a North American Union, then a World Federation. Therefore, they must go about their task surreptitiously. The question is who in Congress is driving this agenda and who is simply a stooge; a useful idiot, as the Soviets so aptly named them?

One who surely is not is Congressman Virgil Goode (R-VA). Congressman Goode, who in January introduced a measure stating the United States should not enter into a union with Canada and Mexico, addressed the rally in Washington. “I always want the United States to be the best country in the world as it is today,” Congressman Goode told the crowd, “and it won't be if we're part of a North American Union.”

Knowing who lies in wait on the other side is a simple matter of deduction. McCain, Kennedy, Specter, Graham. Just a few of the names that come to mind. Separating the agenda drivers from the useful idiots is, in the end, an act of futility. It doesn't really matter. They're all riding the same train to America's destruction. Let's just hope that train runs out of steam before it reaches its destination.
