Al's Inconsistent Truth

October 16, 2007

Although we saw this train coming a mile away, I'm still trying to figure out how the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Al Gore. When Alfred Nobel willed the money for the award, he stipulated that the person “ shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding of peace congresses.” Odd, but Al Gore's hysteria over global warming has done nothing but tear countries apart. And I haven't seen any standing armies reduced over the issue nor has Gore held any peace congresses.

Ah, but the Nobel Committee explained this, sort of. They claim catastrophic global warming will cause masses of people to flee coastal areas and move across borders into other countries causing wars. Quite a stretch, to say the least, but I presume that I can expect a nomination next year for fighting illegal immigration, using the same logic.

If the consequences weren't so costly and the government oppression, through certain to be enacted “carbon taxes,” weren't so scary, the whole affair would seem rather humorous. I have, for years, offered cash money to anyone who can show me a link between what man is doing and any sort of climate change. I've had no takers. They merely point to the so-called “consensus.” These people remind me of the “consensus” back during the late fifteenth century when doom-and-gloomers were warning Christopher Columbus at the top of their lungs that he would surely fall off the edge of the earth were he to go through with his fool-hardy expedition.

These members of the Flat Earth Society are still with us. They were the same ones who screamed at the top of their lungs that Ronald Reagan was going to destroy the entire planet with his quest to outspend the Soviet Union on nuclear technology. Lo and behold, the Soviet Union spent itself into oblivion. Reagan predicted their demise at the outset of his presidency and just after leaving office it came to fruition. And who do you think the Nobel Committee gave their precious peace prize to in 1990? Mikhail Gorbechev.

I find it quite ironic that in the same week that Al Gore picked up his Nobel Peace Prize, a judge in England required teachers to label his film a political production and not scientific. The judge cited 11 major errors in Gore's film, 11 points that he said proved global warming was real and manmade. The judge thought otherwise and now British teachers who don't disclaim the film as political propaganda and fail to point out the 11 errors will find themselves guilty of political indoctrination, a violation of British law.

You see, the Brits, with the help of a Channel 4 documentary entitled “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” are on to Gore. Over two and a half million British saw the broadcast that ripped Al Gore's theory to shreds. Australian television treated their citizens to the film this past summer. It has yet to be shown, to my knowledge, in the United States but I have seen it and it absolutely destroys the manmade global warming theory.

Dr. Richard Lindzen, the distinguished atmospheric scientist from MIT, says “e xtreme weather events are always present. There's no evidence it's getting better, or worse, or changing.” Unfortunately for Al Gore and his legions of hysterical fanatics, more and more scientists are following Dr. Lindzen's lead and braving their relentless ridicule. There's a growing consensus, alright, and it's coming to the conclusion that Gore is wrong. Unfortunately for Al, that's the inconvenient truth.
