Media Bias Alive and Well

Just when I think we may be whipping this “media bias” thing another example comes along. This time it's a string of examples pertaining to the Susan Lindauer case. Lindauer is accused of passing secrets along to the Iraqis before, during and after our war with Saddam. I picked up the paper the morning after her arrest to read, “former congressional aide” arrested and charged with selling secrets to Iraq. Did you notice the subtlety?

 

You see, Susan Lindauer has worked for nothing but Democrats. Had a Republican aide been arrested the article would have noted “former Republican congressional aide.” Think I'm paranoid? Take the New York Post article of March 16 th . Not only did they try to distance her from the Democrats, they did their best to tie her to the Republicans.

 

Check out this quote: “ Lindauer, a former congressional aide and a distant relative of White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, was arrested last Thursday at her Maryland home and charged with getting paid to work for the Iraqi intelligence service under former dictator Saddam Hussein.” A distant relative of Andy Card?!? She's a full-fledged, card-carrying Democrat yet there's absolutely no mention of that. In fact, they try once again in the article to tie her to Republicans. “Her dad, John Lindauer, a former Republican candidate for governor of Alaska, blasted the case,” they wrote.

 

Not once in that article do they mention that she worked as a press aide for Senators Carol Moseley Braun and Ron Wyden, and House members Zoe Lofgren and Peter DeFazio, all Democrats.

 

How about this headline from the New York Daily News, “ Kin of Bush aide nabbed as spy for Iraq.” Apparently, distant kinship accounts for much more with the liberal press than actual day-to-day association when they're trying to make the Republicans look bad. Funny how they never mentioned that Hillary Clinton was born into a Republican family and actually worked on the 1964 Goldwater campaign. That, God forbid, may have tarnished the reputation of Queen Hillary.

 

My father was a lifelong Democrat, former chairman of the North Carolina Democrat Party, former Democrat legislator and former Democrat congressman. Do you think any newspaper anywhere has ever tried to label me a Democrat? It ain't gonna happen. Starting to understand their MO?

 

If the charges are true, what we have with Susan Lindauer is a traitor to the country. The press is hypersensitive about Democrats being labeled thusly so they're doing everything they can to combat the label. The fact is, Lindauer appears to be a traitor and she's a Democrat. That's not to say that all traitors are Democrats nor is it to say that all Democrats are traitors. It is to say that this Democrat is a traitor and the fact that she worked for Braun, Wyden, et al. is relative to the story. You can bet your fanny if she had worked for Newt and Frist they would be all over it. Yet, according to NewsMax.com, the day after her arrest, “ Of the 120 main press reports so far on Lindauer's arrest yesterday, only 12 expressly identified her former employers as Democrats.” Ten percent. That means 90 percent of the press reports tried to hide her Democrat roots. Don't say they didn't. It's much easier to uncover the employment history of someone than it is to dig up one's genealogy. Especially when making a loose tie with a distant cousin who works in the White House. Come on. I was born at night but not last night. Once again, the mainstream press proves it is untrustworthy. Big surprise, huh?
