NAAPC Stoops To New Low

September 22, 2004

The Kerry campaign is apparently in full panic mode. The fact that they would drudge up the hackneyed story of George W. Bush being AWOL during his service in the Texas Air National Guard is just the tip of the iceberg. Of course, the story is completely untrue but that hasn't stopped the Bush-haters from trying to resurrect this tired tale. When a Bush-basher from Texas miraculously produced some so-called documents that purportedly proved Bush served less than honorably in the Guard, the Kerry folks were giddy with glee. Kerry hired gun James Carville announced the day before the documents were unleashed that it was a “new day” for their campaign.

Indeed, it was.

The documents turned out to be forgeries. The source turned out to be a disgruntled, bitter ex-guardsman who hated Bush because the Guard wouldn't pay all of his medical bills, a case he lost in court. Dan Rather fell all over himself to get the fake document story to air and, in turn, exposed himself as the partisan hack that he is. The irony is, nobody cared about the story anyway, even if the documents had been real, another example of the Kerry campaign grasping at straws.

Here's where the Kerry campaign finds itself now. Not only did John Kerry not get a post-convention bounce, he went down in the polls. President Bush got a huge post-convention bounce and continues the build on it. Most of those undecided voters who were waiting until the home stretch to make up their minds have broken for Bush. That leaves Kerry anywhere from 8 to 15 points down. The undecided well is dry therefore Kerry must go searching for votes somewhere else.

We've seen him on the Leno Show, the Letterman Show, Regis & Kelly and others. He's trying to harvest otherwise untapped votes, votes from those who pay little attention to politics and hardly, if ever, vote.

Here's where it gets ugly.

The Democrats are now stooping to new lows to harvest new votes. I have it on good authority that the local NAACP has been going to the Davidson County jail and registering inmates! This may sound outlandish but it's true. My source has firsthand knowledge of such activity. Originally, NAACP officials were telling the inmates what a terrible person Bush is. Jail officials have asked them to stop the Bush-bashing but they're still registering inmates to vote, apparently within the confines of the law. Although it may be lawful, it certainly is unethical but when your campaign is in a panic, ethical tactics are thrown out the window if you're the Kerry campaign.

Although the registration of criminals is outrageous, it should also bring a degree of comfort to those who find it repugnant. The Kerry campaign is out of ammunition. They've no cards left to play so they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for votes. It wouldn't surprise me if the NAACP pulled up in front of the jail in a bus on election day. We already know that the left is famous for dragging mentally disabled citizens to the polls and helping them vote in one of the most despicable acts of voter fraud. This latest stunt should not surprise us.

What it should do is energize us. Those of us who find this kind of activity abhorrent need to hang on to that outrage until election day. Then we need to vent that outrage with our numbers. For every inmate who votes there should be thousands of law-abiding citizens there to counter that vote. Remember, if it ain't close, they can't cheat.
